Historical Reenactment – La Caduta del Quadrilatero
A journey into the past through history, battles and life in the past on Lake Garda!
From 25 to 27 September 2026, Peschiera del Garda travels back in time with “1866: The Fall of the Quadrilateral”, a major historical reenactment that brings 19th-century atmospheres, characters and scenes of everyday life to the heart of the town.
For an entire weekend, the historic centre and the Fortress of Peschiera del Garda will be transformed into a historical setting, with period camps, patrols, duels, military training and scenes of camp life. It is an opportunity to discover the history of Peschiera and experience the Lake Garda area through an engaging event suitable for the whole family.
The programme features numerous events, from free guided tours of the historic centre and the camps to Italian and Austrian military training demonstrations, spectacular cannon fire and a naval battle with an attempted landing at the harbour. The highlight will be the grand battle, featuring the surrender of the fortress and the change of garrison, staged in Parco Catullo.
The reenactment will also provide an opportunity to immerse yourself in the life and traditions of the period, thanks to the Historical Tavern, the photography exhibition, historical dance lessons, folk dances and the grand ball. The event will conclude with the parade of the troops, the handover of the city and the evocative torchlight procession as the garrison leaves the fortress.
An event that offers a different way to discover Peschiera del Garda and the Garda area, combining history, culture and entertainment.
